ANCCI Delegation Meets Secretary (Transport)
Today, a delegation led by the Andaman and Nicobar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ANCCI) paid a courtesy visit to the Secretary (Transport), Shri Rajanish Kumar Singh, IAS, to discuss several key issues concerning the tourism and transport sectors of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The delegation comprised the Vice President of the Andaman and Nicobar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Shri Rajesh Puriya; General Secretary, Shri Madan Lal; Shri Rajesh Anand; President of the Andaman Nicobar Tour Operators Association (ANTOA), Shri Simson; President of the Large Vehicle (Tempo Traveller) Association, Shri Suresh, along with his team; and President of the Andaman Tourist Cab Association, Shri Deepak Shankar, along with his team.
Key Issues Discussed
During the meeting, the delegation discussed several important matters affecting the tourism industry, including vehicle parking facilities, tourist vehicle permits, fitness certification, challenges in the permit issuance process, and other administrative concerns.
The delegation also highlighted the shortage of tourist vehicles in Swaraj Dweep (Havelock) and Shaheed Dweep (Neil), along with issues related to the operation and regulation of large tourist vehicles.
Assurance from Secretary (Transport)
Secretary (Transport), Shri Rajanish Kumar Singh, IAS, gave a patient hearing to all the issues raised by the delegation and assured them that the department would take the necessary steps to address these concerns at the earliest.
He also reaffirmed the department's commitment to working proactively to strengthen the tourism sector and make the transport system more efficient, transparent, and convenient for tourism stakeholders.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the President of the Andaman Nicobar Tour Operators Association (ANTOA), Shri Simson, expressed his sincere gratitude to the Secretary (Transport), Shri Rajanish Kumar Singh, IAS, for his valuable time, positive response, and assurance of cooperation.
